Egypt's Tax Authority has been extending its e-receipt system to businesses that sell to consumers, and vendor guides warn that a clinic without e-receipt integration risks tax compliance issues. In parallel, the Universal Health Insurance System is contracting private providers governorate by governorate; more than a third of its contracted providers are private, and the 2025 to 2029 digital health strategy targets standard electronic records. The date on which the e-receipt mandate reaches a given clinic depends on the authority's roll-out stages, and we verify it per clinic rather than assume it. For the clinic owner the practical change is the same in both cases: every visit needs a structured receipt and a record that an authority or an insurer can read.

What it requires

  • Issue receipts for patient payments electronically through the Tax Authority's e-receipt system once your stage is called, with the fields and the QR code it specifies
  • Register the point of sale with the authority and keep it connected
  • For a UHI contract: keep patient records in a structured electronic form and submit service and claim data in the format the system requires
  • Keep records for the retention period the law sets and make them retrievable by patient

What the system provides

  • Receipts per visit with structured fields, a QR code and a per-receipt identifier, sent to the patient on WhatsApp and kept in the record
  • An end-of-shift report per receptionist and a daily reconciliation from reception to cash drawer, which is what cash-only clinics asked us for
  • Patient records with configurable intake forms, searchable by ID and phone, retained for seven years
  • A booking site that records every booking and payment, so the receipt has a source

What we do not claim yet

  • Integration with the Tax Authority's e-receipt platform is built per clinic once its stage is confirmed; no clinic integration is live yet and none is claimed
  • UHI claim submission is not built; the records are structured so it can be, and we say when it is
